Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE I used to think that I was not able to do my schoolwork on my own. I thought that I would always need help from a peer or teacher. I used to tell myself I was too dumb to do it on my own or that the way I did it was wrong. Now that this year I have chosen to do things on my own and not rely on others, I realized these next two years of high school should not be that bad. To be honest the first three terms of English I did not do my best. So, I could not really tell you what worked for me and what didn’t. One thing I can tell you that worked for me in this class was only getting one assignment a week. Since we already get a lot of work in other classes this made it less stressful. Also, the videos were fun to watch so I was actually paying attention and learning. When a teacher sits and talks to the class nothing really gets in my brain because it’s so boring that I zone out.

I have a lot of advice for sophomores. Before sophomore year I was so scared to go to high school. It seemed so scary and I was nervous. I did not think I would have as many friends and I thought the teachers would be scary or mean. It turned out to be completely different. All my teachers were really nice and always went out of their way to help me. I wish I would have asked more questions. Then maybe I would know more.

I was scared that I would not know where any of my classes were. After the first two days I practically had my whole schedule memorized. The school may be huge but when you start to be there every day it starts to seem smaller. You start to know where everything is. By the second week you will already have people to walk to every class with. Make sure you always have a plan for lunch. You don’t want to be trying to figure things out at the last second. It is stressful and overwhelming.

Do not be afraid to make new friends. Spread your wings, it may be scary at first but trust me, you won’t regret it. Of course, it is scary, but it is so worth it. You will have more people to go to lunch with, sit by in class, hang out with, pretty much do everything with. Having a social life in high school is important but at the same time you can’t let it be more important than your schoolwork. Grades should always come first, and you should always stay on top of your work. Having to be stressed all the time because you are failing a class or have not done your homework sucks.

Being involved in a club or a sport is always a good choice. I wish I would have joined a sport or a club during my sophomore year. I regret it so badly because all my friends were involved in at least one thing and I would be in the crowd just watching. The only time it is fun to be in the crowd is during football games or basketball games. That reminds me… go to every school game, every school dance, just go to every school activity. You only have 4 years in high school, make the best of it and enjoy it while it lasts.

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE When I get out of quarantine, I am going to make the best of my life. I took way too many things for granted. I never realized it until I did not have these things anymore. I even took going to school every day for granted. I took seeing my friends all the time for granted. I took spending time with my family for granted. I never thought that it would come to this. Obviously, the first day they start to let people go back to work, open restaurants, fast food places, etc. I will not go out straight away I will probably take it slow. I will hang out with friends and maybe get some takeout food, but I will not go straight back to how my life used to be. I will take it slow because you never know if it will just start up again. I just do not want to take the risk. Once everything is back to normal, I will travel, hang out with friends, be excited to go to school, and just take every opportunity I have. Like if someone asks me if I want to go hang out or volunteer for something, I am going to the chance. I am going to tell all my friends and family that I love them more then I used to and spend more time with them. I am also going to work on bettering myself, physically and mentally. I am going to start trying harder in school and working harder for my future, because that is the most important thing right now.

There is so much advice I have for myself back in March. I do not exactly remember that Friday, I am sure I was absent because I had the Flu. So much has changed since then. I would have never thought we would be doing online school for the rest of the year or be quarantined. No one is ever really prepared or planning for these situations. That is why everyone was freaking out and running through stores like they were crazy.

If I was to give advice to myself on what to stock up, I would say food, bathroom necessities, things for my pets, etc. I do not really know anything else my family would need to stock up.

I wish I planned on being mentally stable through this quarantine. Being stuck at home all day, not being able to see my friends and family all the time has kind of made me sad. Not being able to go out sucks very badly because it is the one thing, I did all the time. I feel distant from all my friends. Being social through social media can only go so far. I would also tell myself to stop procrastinating because I do it too much. So, schoolwork online is harder because I tell myself I can just do it later and then I get behind. I have been better though; I have been getting work done.

Running on a schedule makes life easier because once you get all the important things done you have time for the fun things. You also are not as stressed because you know what you need to get done and you get it done. It helps keep you organized.

I always hope to get all of my school work done for each day and I try to get in a good work out just because now I am doing a lot of laying around and I want to stay in shape. I always know I will struggle to work out and do homework just because I am lazy sometimes. The easiest thing for me to do is sleep or take my dogs for walks.

A lot has changed over the past couple of weeks. There have been thousands of deaths. The United States now has the most cases in the world. People are not practicing social distancing as well as they should. Most of my friends are still going and hanging out. I don’t get it. Don’t people want to be able to have their lives back? I know that I do, I’ve had the same routine for weeks now. It is practically wake up, do homework, exercise, and then whatever else there is left to do. I’m getting tired of it; I miss going out and being around everyone. The only way to contact the people I love is through face time or social media and it is sad. I am starting to forget how to be social in real life.

Spring break sucked, because it was a break but there was nothing to do. Regularly over spring break I would be going on a trip, hang out with friends, or even just going to a movie with my family. No one got to do any of those things. The most I did was sleep or play tennis but now they have closed most of the courts. I also took my dog on many walks. It didn’t feel like a break at all.

I really wish we could go back to school so we can have prom, graduation, sports games, and even a last day of school. I don’t know why but the last day of school is always so fun and now we don’t even have one. This just made me realize I need to stop taking every day for granted and to make the most of all the days I have.

Preconventional: When children are to the point where they go off of everything their parents say. They practically go off anything that an adult says. A child still hasn’t learned between right and wrong.

Conventional: The childs sense of morality is between societal and personal relationships. They except the rules of authority figures.

Postconventional: In this level, a person’s sense of morality is defined by terms of abstract principles. Most people believe that some laws are unjust and should just be taken off.

In Kolberg’s Theory, he defines morality as recognition of the distinction between good and evil or between right and wrong; respect for and obedience to the rules. I think morality is just that. Being able to recognize good from bad, and understanding boundaries and the rules.

According to Kolberg’s Theory, Macbeth’s response to the decisions he’s made. I think, shows that he recognizes that what he has done was horribly wrong. Yet he is in too deep already, and the guilt is literally eating him alive. His response to becoming king, is quite strange, he seems to enjoy the power and use it wrongfully. His wife, Lady Macbeth is the one holding the secret together, while Macbeth is barely living with the guilt.

Referring to Kolberg’s chart, I would like to think that I am on the Social Contract level 3 stage. I would like to be on the last stage, but I still have so much to learn. I am not quite sure what it would take for me to get where i want in life.

SCENARIO 1 (ANSWERING QUESTIONS AS MACBETH WOULD)

1 & 1a. “Yes, tell the mother because then Judy will be in trouble and you will be praised and a better daughter.”

2 & 2a. “Not, that should not make a difference in the decision, she should be thinking of herself.”

3 & 3a. “Not really, it is about getting your sister in trouble and getting Louise in a higher favor of her mother.”

4 & 4a. “I think the fact that Judy earned the money herself is important, but Louise should be thinking of herself.”

5 & 5a. “Yes it is important, because if you make a promise you should always keep it no matter what”

6 & 6a. “A promise should be kept because it is the right and moral thing to do.”

7 & 7a. “Kind of, depending on the promise I suppose, because you made a moral agreement.”

8 & 8a. “A mother should be concerned about herself and what she wants the daughter to do, because that is what is best for the mother.”

9 & 9a. “The mother should be able to tell the daughter what she can and cannot do. Because the mother is in charge.

10 & 10a. “A daughter should be concerned about what she wants to do if she can achieve herself somehow.”

11 & 11a. “Louise should tell her mother to break the mother to break the mother and daughter trust that Judy and her mom have, so Louise is viewed as the favorite or more responsible.”

SCENARIO 2

1 & 1a. “Yes, Heinz should do whatever it takes to get the drug and save his wife. There is no reason the druggist should be charging ten times the amount it costs to make.”

2 & 2a. ” It is technically wrong for him to steal the drug, yet in his morals, he would do anything to save his wife.”

3 & 3a. “Heinz has an obligation to steal the drug, because if he couldn’t get it any other way, we will have to take matters into his own hands.”

4 & 4a. “I think it should make a difference in what Heinz does whether or not he loves his wife, if he doesn’t love her, why should he steal for her.”

5 & 5a. “No, Heinz does not know the stranger, so why should he put himself on the line for a stranger?”

6 & 6a. “Yes, if you love something, you should do anything to save it.”

7 & 7a. “Only if the person means something to you or is that important enough to try to save.”

8 & 8a. “Yes, it is against the law. I think it is legally wrong, not morally wrong.”

9 & 9a. “Possibly because a lot of morally wrong things are against the law. They should try to be morally right.”

10 & 10a. “The most responsible thing Heinz could do is to not steal the drug, but he should steal it anyways. If he steals, it may get him into trouble.”

The Corona Virus has affected the whole world traumatically. Everything is shut down. Even the stock market has gone down and people aren’t getting as much income as they normally would. Restaurants, small businesses, some doctors offices, dentist offices, and schools are all closed. Most people are quarantined and stuck in their houses. If you stay in quarantine you are honestly doing the whole world a favor. If you are going out and hanging out with your friends or just to party, you are putting others in danger and at risk of getting sick. It is honestly selfish.

The virus has caused all school activities to be canceled such as prom, sports, and even graduation. I am so sad that prom was canceled, it was my first prom and the seniors last and they can’t even go to it. The seniors this year don’t even get to graduate together, play their last sports games, go to their last prom or even senior cotillion.

I feel that I took going to school for granted. I would always talk about how I wanted to be home schooled just because of having to wake up. Turns out I never want to be home schooled. I love getting to go to school and see my friends everyday and actually learn from a real person and not just a video.

It gets really boring being at home all day. It feels like a repeating cycle of boredom everyday. School was a balance in my life and now that i can’t go everything feels off. I just miss being able to socialize and have freedom.
