Blog Post 27

I have a lot of advice for sophomores. Before sophomore year I was so scared to go to high school. It seemed so scary and I was nervous. I did not think I would have as many friends and I thought the teachers would be scary or mean. It turned out to be completely different. All my teachers were really nice and always went out of their way to help me. I wish I would have asked more questions. Then maybe I would know more.

I was scared that I would not know where any of my classes were. After the first two days I practically had my whole schedule memorized. The school may be huge but when you start to be there every day it starts to seem smaller. You start to know where everything is. By the second week you will already have people to walk to every class with. Make sure you always have a plan for lunch. You don’t want to be trying to figure things out at the last second. It is stressful and overwhelming.

Do not be afraid to make new friends. Spread your wings, it may be scary at first but trust me, you won’t regret it. Of course, it is scary, but it is so worth it. You will have more people to go to lunch with, sit by in class, hang out with, pretty much do everything with. Having a social life in high school is important but at the same time you can’t let it be more important than your schoolwork. Grades should always come first, and you should always stay on top of your work. Having to be stressed all the time because you are failing a class or have not done your homework sucks.

Being involved in a club or a sport is always a good choice. I wish I would have joined a sport or a club during my sophomore year. I regret it so badly because all my friends were involved in at least one thing and I would be in the crowd just watching. The only time it is fun to be in the crowd is during football games or basketball games. That reminds me… go to every school game, every school dance, just go to every school activity. You only have 4 years in high school, make the best of it and enjoy it while it lasts.
