Three Witches- Three “black and midnight hags” who plot mischief
Malcom- The son of Duncan. He fled Scotland after his father’s murder.
Donalbain- Malcolms younger brother and Duncan’s son.
Banquo- Macbeth’s best friend. He has kids that will inherit the Scottish throne. Banquo is stands to criticize and disapprove Macbeth’s actions. Macbeth ends up murdering Banquo, his ghost constantly haunts him and makes him feel guilt.
King Duncan- King of Scotland, who Macbeth murders in order to take his crown. His death symbolized destruction of order in Scotland that can only be restored when Duncan’s line occupies the thrown again.
Macduff- Scottish nobleman who is hostile towards Macbeth’s kingship. Later on he ends up becoming leader of the crusade, taking Macbeth’s place. For this Macbeth is angry and seeks revenge, so he kills Macduff’s wife and child.
Fleance- Banquo’s son. He ends up disappearing at the end of the play. He may end up fulfilling the three witches prophecy and take the Scottish throne.
Lady Macduff- Macduff’s wife. She ends up being murdering by Macbeth’s men.
Ross- Scottish nobleman
Lennox- Scottish nobleman
